One of the very last social occasions before the COVID-19 Lockdown saw the launch of Evans Vettori’s 25th-anniversary celebration publication ‘Sense of Place’, a self-published book with contributions from writers including Hugh Pearman and Prue Chiles.  The evening was wonderful with many of EV’s clients and collaborators present, accompanied by fabulous veggie bar snacks and free-flowing Prosecco! Practice head Robert Evans spoke about the highlights of creating the book and working with their dedicated and talented team.

The book charts Evans Vettori’s history and approach to design and environment from their studio based in Matlock.

They have an enviable legacy of award-winning buildings, many of which Martine has enjoyed working on for the lions share of that last quarter-century. The first of these was Nottingham Trent University’s Waverley Building refurb in 1999/2000 which appeared in Architects’ Journal. Since then they’ve continued to work with NTU, including their multi-award-winning Pavilion which Martine photographed in 2017. Most of Martine’s coverage for them has been for their educational output and she was delighted to see the inclusion of one of their Sure Start nurseries from 2007 whose images include her own son, looking very tiny and playing on the climbing frame in the gardens there.
