February 2020
In the new year Martine was invited to be a guest at the Derby Architecture Celebration 2020, held at Derby’s Old Central Library and hosted by Nottingham & Derby Society of Architects. The evening took the form of an exhibition and four presentations including one from Michael Hall of Faulkner Browns Architects who Martine shot Derby Arena for in 2015 and Paul Hutt of Glancy Nicholls, whose hillside scheme at Darley Dale for dementia care featured in the RIBA Journal last year.
In the exhibition itself, there were several other projects Martine has worked on over the years including Liverpool Shed KM’s Corbin House which won many plaudits on completion in 2005, and happened to be the very last building Martine shot on 5×4″ transparency before going fully digital. It was good to see many familiar faces over the evening and hear about forthcoming completions including Glancy Nicholls’ new elder care scheme at Belper and Faulkner Brown’s new 50m pool and leisure centre in Derby which is due to open its doors in 2021.
