UTC Leeds – Race Cottam Architects

Sheffield based Race Cottam have transformed half of the Braime Engineering Works into The University of Leeds Technical College. Whilst delivering a school for 600 students with heavy engineering, workshops, CAD studios and more conventional classroom spaces, the desire to retain the volume and light of the original Victorian engineering hall has been achieved, together with a vibrant palette and attention to detail.

Often, schools can be tricky to shoot, but this team and their pupils were a joy to work with, despite the high winds which threatened to jeopardise the exterior shots.
